Contactless Inteligence Spring Conference 2009
Join us in April for our Annual Spring Conference, which has now been extended to 2 days in order to cover contactless topics in more depth. Held on 1st and 2nd April 2009 at the Hilton Tower Bridge, next year’s event will include a mix of presentations, panel sessions, roundtables and demos, so that participants will not only receive updates on what is happening in the world of contactless technology, but also discuss issues and opportunities with the implementers themselves and move forward with some of the business model roadblocks. Speakers will be from: LOCOG, Olympic Sponsors, retailers, sporting venues, transport companies, unattended payment, technology companies, banks, payment associations, mobile operators and analysts.
2012 Reality Roadmap
The Olympic Games in London in 2012 provides the perfect deadline for the contactless industry to implement solutions across a wide range of applications, that will leave a solid infrastructure long after the games have finished. We will review why this opportunity is so exciting for the whole industry and the knock-on affect it has onto other sectors (such as other sporting events and entertainment) and even other countries.
- What has been learnt from previous Olympic Games?
- What is required for a contactless Games?
- How will the different contactless solutions (transport, venues, payment etc.) all work together?
- Are the retail partners ready – what do they need in order to succeed?
- How will “foreign” cards work?
- What are the roadblocks for implementing in time?
- How can the solutions be used in other industry sectors and other countries?
Business Model Partnerships
We know a number of successful NFC/contactless pilots have taken place over the last few years, so we intend to discuss the various partnerships created, to see if they will stand the rigors of project implementations. Also we will examine the disruptive players emerging in the market and investigate potential new drivers for NFC implementation.
- How have companies with very different goals managed to work together to deliver pilots?
- How can new partnerships be forged that cross industry boundaries?
- What solutions are coming from emerging countries and does their lack of previous infrastructure speed up new implementations?
- Which companies are moving into new business areas in order to move projects forward – and how are they able to challenge their established competitors?
- Should we assume that mass market will drive implementation – what about the margins in the “premium services” area?
World-wide contactless projects
We’re used to hearing industry experts expound the virtues of contactless technology, but in order to measure the real success of any scheme, you need to hear from the implementers themselves. We’ll learn how the London Launch has progressed in its second year and discover how other countries have been handling their projects
- Are all implementations the same?
- What have been the most exciting aspects of the projects – and the most frustrating?
- Can pilots actually show realistic results when carried out in such small, controlled environments?
- Do the implementers (such as retailers, venues, transport operators etc.) really reap any benefits?
- What are the essential steps that have to take place for success?
The second Annual Contactless Intelligence Monkey Awards will be held on the evening of 1st April 2009. The Monkey Awards are presented to those companies, organizations and retailers who have done the most to embrace and implement contactless technology into their day-to-day operating practices. These awards represent a real promotional springboard and give the winners a reputation and credibility for their efforts within the industry. The competition is open to all implemented contactless applications within the relevant sectors, regardless of geographic region or size of corporation. Selected by a panel of experts, the Awards will be presented at a prestigious evening ceremony, open to all Conference delegates.
